Weekend Wind Down: Dawes - Right on Time
Talk about back to basics, this is it. This track sounds like it could’ve been recorded in the 70s, and I mean that as a compliment. It’s just bass, drums, guitar, harmonized vocals, and maybe a sprinkling of piano (though I’d almost call it pianey, almost). Almost no effects, no fanciness, just stripped-down instruments and sangin’. It works when the melody is as well-constructed as this. The righteous guitar solo also helps.
