Morning Fuel: Twenty One Pilots - Heavydirtysoul
It’s like surfing on a particularly time-blind, lost culture wave. First there’s some classic late 90s drum and bass patterns, then some rap-like vocals, then a big old poppy chorus. The track does sound like a machine of its own making, especially when it drops into a few slow, distorted, droning sections only to flare up again into that frenzied drum pattern. Best of all, it doesn’t overstay it’s welcome. The one place I never would’ve imagined this band would come from is OHIO. But, in an era of the Black Keys, that’s what you get. Twenty One Pilots has my attention.
